Week #2 Puppy Update

The puppies eyes are open! They are looking more like puppies, as opposed to little rats or pigs (as I have been told by multiple people). They still mostly eat and sleep, but I know that it won't be long before they start getting more interested in the world around them.

Even though they still mostly sleep, I am getting an idea of their individual personalities. Yellow is very vocal, and was the first to open his eyes. He does not like waking up to find the others have rolled away from him. He must be snuggled up with his siblings, otherwise he'll complain until he stumbles into them. I think he doesn't want to be the smallest, and does his best to out-eat Red. Every day which of those two are biggest is changing.

Red is the one most likely to crawl around, and was second to open his eyes. I think he may be the main explorer of the group.

And Blue... he still believes that exertion for anything more than food is clearly unnecessary. He's the biggest of our pups, putting all his attention into eating, sleeping, and getting bigger. He was the last to start opening his eyes, only starting to open them today, whereas the other two have had their eyes open for a day or two already. His ears were the first to start flopping forward though.

The pups have been moved upstairs. With eyes starting to open, and the pups soon to begin roaming and exploring their world, I figured moving to the guest room where there was better light would be a good idea. Raiju isn't sure what to think of these newcomers, and neither are the cats. The cats are avoiding the guest room, with it's new noises and smells, and Raiju lays in the doorway and whines, not sure what to do since he's not allowed to go bother the pups or play with his buddy while she's in there tending her little ones. I think Shisa is happy having the pups upstairs. It's easier for her to come check on 'her humans' and get attention, while still staying near her babies. She can also stand up and look out the window to see what we're up to as we tend our other animals. Being able to survey all of 'her domain' seems to have her quite pleased with herself.
