It's hard to believe the pups are already seven-weeks-old, and that they'll only be here for another week. They've been a lot of fun, though once they hit 6-weeks, the amount of cleaning they require significantly increases. This week we've been taking the pups outside to play almost every day, and they seem to really like running around, and playing chase with their parents.
Trying to wrestle with their parents, or at least get in on the fun when their parents are playing, is another popular activity.
We set up a wading pool for the pups, so that they have clean water to drink (at least at the start of their 'outdoor adventure'), as well as cool water to play in, so they don't get too hot. And that seems to be quite popular as well.
During the outdoor adventures, the puppies have also met a few of our sheep. I'm not quite sure what they thought of the big things coming over to sniff at them.
They also got to meet our bottle lambs, who have gotten quite quick on their feet, as we figured the lambs could easily run out of reach if the pups got too intimidating for the little things.
After a bit, though, we separated them, so that I could feed the lambs in peace while my husband kept the pups from trying to chase and wrestle with them.
The day after they met the sheep, the puppies discovered that I seemingly show favoritism to the sheep - I let them be outside more often than the puppies! The puppies went nuts, jumping up on the door and barking when they saw the sheep through our storm door.
The puppies have also been introduced to a terrifying monster - our floor scrubber.
With the puppies decision that the large washable pads I put down were wonderful things to play tug-of-war with, or roll up in, the pads no longer made for an easy method of cleaning their pen by simply changing the pads. Instead, it was time to remove the pads and simply clean the messes myself. Therefore, the terrifying floor scrubber emerged. It took the puppies all of... a minute, to decide that it was not something to fear. I now have to dodge puppies at times when trying to clean their pen, especially when a puppy wants to play, and stands in the way of the scrubber while barking at it. Some have even decided that it is to be completely ignored, and are quite happy to remain in the way while they eat, rather than move so I can finish cleaning their pen (and therefore, resume being able to play with them).
The puppies are still just that though, puppies, and after some excited playing and racing around, they get tired and need a nap.
