Have Human, Will Travel

Shisa and Raiju both love going anywhere with us. Both are quite good at hopping into the back seat of the truck, but Shisa decided to expand this. She'll hop into the bed of the truck quite happily, if she thinks it means we'll take her somewhere. In the bed of the truck though, has meant only a few hundred feet, such as to transport something heavy from point A to point B in the pasture.

This fall though, Shisa decided to branch out yet again. And we decided that dogs were to be kept indoors for certain activities. Shisa, seeing my husband on a small wheeled object moving from the shed to the front of the house, simply couldn't be left out.

She was so happy being allowed to ride (blades up, not actually mowing) from the back to the front of the house (so I could get a photo). Apparently the idea of not having to walk, and yet still stay right with us as we're moving, is highly appealing to her. However, I have no intention to let her learn to ride horseback with us. She has 4 perfectly good legs she can use, and she's a bit too large for a lap puppy. Besides, I don't think the horses would tolerate it either.

Raiju had no interest in riding, or even sitting at my husband's feet. Shisa was quite disappointed when I called her and Raiju into the house, so our grass could be cut in peace, without having to worry about hitch-hikers leaping aboard.
