It's hard to believe, but our little pups are already 8-weeks-old. We've been trying to get them outside more over the past week, to let them have even more space to run, and a chance to air-dry after their daily baths.
Of course, in a rather vain attempt to keep them from getting muddy once outside after they are finally so nice and clean, I do try to dry them off as best I can.
They love being able to run and play.
They also like seeking attention from their humans, which means sitting on the ground causes you to become the center of their attention. This also makes trying to get photos rather... challenging. Not that I mind cuddling with puppies, even if they are muddy.
Of course, with how hot it has been lately, we have taken to introducing the pups to wading pools.
They seem to quite enjoy it.
As anyone who knows our dogs knows, their parents also like water.
I think our wading pool is a bit too small for their parents though...
Since the adults wanted to be in the water to cool off as much, if not more, than the pups, my husband walked with the adults over to the stock tank so they could hop in and play. It is a bit more their size.
The adults no longer hogging the baby pool, or close enough to be chased around constantly, the pups returned their attention to playing in the water themselves.
Of course, water definitely means muddy pups.
Of course, with our pups being 8 weeks old now, it means that they are starting to depart for their new homes. One pup, our Pink girl, will be staying with us a bit longer, as her family had to reluctantly back out, and we are looking for a new family for her. This is both a sad and happy time, as I will miss the little energetic things, but I look forward to hearing about them as they grow and bond with their new families. And I have the memories of these pups, and all the pictures to look back on.
Assuming we find a new home for Pink soon, this may be my last regular blog for a while, since the pups are leaving. But I'll try to update a few times over the course of the year on how their parents are doing, and next spring, to let you know when we have more pups on the way!
